Barbara Bouch-Cook was born in Sydney, New South Wales, in 1938, and has been drawing and painting for as long as she can remember.
In 1947, her family moved to the Woomera Rocket Range, South Australia. It was there and on the often-visited outlying sheep stations, Roxby Downs and Purple Downs, that Barbara became entranced with the vivid colors and the starkness of the Australian outback.
